PL7 connector type and PL4 change

Is there a preferred connector type for PL7? Something that will suit most applications.
- Just normal pins (male)?
- an IDC tray connector that ensures polarity (male)?
- a female version of PL6 as seen on one of Roland's boards?
I have a Tube interface to assemble so PL7 will dictate what connector it has.

Also, is there any reason I should not change PL4 for a 90° right-angle connector so I don't have to open the case to access it?

TIA

Neil.

If you change it to an angled IDC connector than you can access it via a cable without opening the case (PL4).
PL7 I would stick with the normal header (Male pins). As there is a board attached, attaching the board the wrong way around will be very hard.

Hi Neil,

There is no preferred connector for PL7. It's just what you choose. If you mostly use it for your tube interface it does not matter what you use, it will work even if you only solder wires in it  I picked a straight female IDC connector so I can plug in a wire or so for measurements and that kind of things and for the board I can use a male IDC connector or simply a double or single header strip.

It's no problem to change PL4, but beware that there are some colour boards that connect to PL4 and then it should be straight like it is now.

Greetings, Roland

Thanks for the replies.

Male double header strip for PL7 I think.

I will leave PL4 until I decide on a colour card.
Any recommendations? Preferably with screen noise removal.

Personally I will go for Dave (Hoglets) one with the XC9572 but that one is external anyway.
