AtomCalc PCB

Post by Pernod » Fri Jul 22, 2016 10:48 am

Why did AtomCalc come on it's own PCB, and what is the other ROM on that board?

I'm not sure if you have the same pcb in mind as I do but Atom Calc on a pcb is a part of the Prophet II ( http://chrisacorns.computinghistory.org ... mCalc.html )

I don't know what the other rom is for because Atom Calc runs on my Atom without any other rom loaded. It has a letter E on it ... would that be E for #Exxx?

Yep, that's what I'm referring to. I hadn't considered that the A and E represented #A000 and #E000, but makes sense. I have AtomCalc running in MAME but would really like to have the Prophet2 configuration too. Can anyone provide these ROMs?

It would be interesting to dump those ROMs, to see if they were customized for the Prophet.

The standard CRC for AtomCalc is 4B9A (others being 5B16, B1C5 and F4E2) and AtomDos is 4C45.

So 69ED and 61E5 are new to me, and not in the archive.

Whilst at Centre for Computing History yesterday we managed to dump these ROMs.

The keyboard of the Prophet differs from a standard Atom keyboard so maybe it also has a different MOS rom or the keyboard is rerouted to use the empty spots in the keyboard matrix for the extra keys.

Greetings
