Atom mini-tape drive...

Post by Prime » Wed Sep 11, 2019 9:59 pm

Hi all,

Do I remember one of the Atom users on here posting a video of an Atom connected to a mini-tape drive, big square black fronted thing. I think the same unit was used sold on other machines as the IKON tape drive.

Cheers.

Phill.

When I was young (many moons ago) I someone made one based on a P2000 (Philips) micro drive.
If I recall correctly it was Chris Kwakernaak (RIP).

Ahh that's the one I remembered seeing.

Looks like the interface card on the Atom is built into the Drive unit (in the same way as AtomDOS and the floppy).

Cheers.

Phill.

Hi Phill,

The MDCR is directly connected to the Atom's VIA. See: http://www.acornatom.nl/atom_nieuws/198 ... 852053.gif

Ahh yes that makes sense, I always forget that the VIA's I/O lines also go to the bus connector.

Cheers.

Phill.
