celebrate with music!

Post by aerworuld » Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:04 pm

Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know about a 'tune' I've knocked up using sounds from my Elk, a DR-55 drum machine and some lines of text I've read from a 1983 sales leaflet from Acorn Computers Ltd for the Electron. It's called 'Nostalgia'.

I felt like I wanted to do something to mark the 35th anniversary of the Elk going on sale in the UK.

If you fancy a listen, I've got a page for it over on AET.

Well ... ... I listened to it ...

Might need a bit of editing before going on Top of the Pops ... :D

Blurb on page says "Similar tubes" ... is that meant to be tunes.

Maybe we could watch this as well, to celebrate. Though it's very dry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN_xEnVrucg

Though in its defence, even Fred Harris couldn't put much spice into a programming series and he also had a ZX Spectrum at his ITV disposal.

Pity the Electron never had a flying start. It could have partnered the BBC Micro with a huge take-up and software writers cross-engineering relevant software on a huge scale. But if it wasn't for all the remaindered stock selling for £50 each, I doubt it would have had the sizeable low-end fanbase.

Ironically that was when it finally did compete with the Spectrum. I see it as more as an upgraded something to compete with the Vic 20, looking back. It was more the Vic's ballpark.

Indeed! Most of the artwork that I do on the Electron is political; here's some examples...

@Commie I've never thought of the Electron and the Vic together, apart from the fact they're both a lot of fun and full of charisma ;-)
