Is there a particular date the stores close? I might be able to get to my local one more time, perhaps Thursday.

Different stores seem to be closing on different schedules. Llandudno's closing this weekend, but a glance on Twitter shows their Wood Green branch closed yesterday (Monday).

I checked and ours closes saturday, so I went in. Were some good prices but most of the interesting stuff has gone. Was tempted by some of the fixtures and fitting but nowehre to put them really. One day I may require racks and racks of component shelves but currently no space.

I think I spent 30 mins in there but onyl cam out with a £3 blue tooth dongle that I can use on older Raspberry Pis.

Couldn't resist a souvenir from my final visit - some useful drawers for the garage. Came with a few diodes and a MAX3232 which I actually needed.

They had some of those there at ours, but I decided I would just be buying to have bought something.

Nice rack. When we moved premises at our branch, I had, shall we say, an early free closing down sale of my own.

......No no no, nothing like that! They were switching from one design of furniture and fittings to another. There was quite a lot of junk they got rid of and one particular thing I enjoyed having was a good solid set of thick wheels for my harmonium. Another was a microphone cabinet fitting I still use to keep one of my mikes on the wall above the piano. I could have had lots of drawers myself.

In normal business, they threw out stray leads and allsorts. Though take a look at this. I once rescued a broken videotape as I could easily have mended it to record on but forgot all about it. Many years on I mended it and played it, only to find myself doing a day's work. Especially now the place is shut, I'm glad I kept this interesting little momento. I'll share some other pix I have when I find them again.

If it was a film something odd would happen on the tape. Like Elvis would be buying some video cables.

Brilliant. Think I still have my name badge in a drawer somewhere, but that's about it - recall they asked me to return my uniform!

Hope those still working there can find a new job that makes use of any technical knowledge they may have. So many empty shops on my local high street I don't imagine that anything will be replacing Maplin for a while yet.

I've been popping in to quite a few picking up bits and pieces. But it seems it might be the end of the line, all my local ones are closed now, anyone noticed any still open?

My local one in Essex has closed. Was in London this morning and popped into the Moorgate store. Loads of stock and the discounts are good. Small power supplies are 2 for £5, bigger ones (including USB C and laptop chargers), £5. All remaining components and connectors are 5 for £1. Lots of other stuff 80% off. Worth a rummage if you are in London.

That's a lot better than Llandudno. At closing (or when I last looked) their connectors were £1 each, or £10 for a (~A5 area) tray's worth.
