Have you ever received an IC in a worse condition?

Should I be mentioning the seller for people to avoid?

Yup! I've had one delivered like that. After informing the seller of the damage and mentioning the fact that there was no antistatic precautions - the reply was "I don't care" He received a very negative feedback detailing why. Unbelievable!

The seller offered me a part refund if it still worked after straightening the pins or a full refund if it didn't. Once I stopped laughing I declined the offer and asked for a return address.

Never had a Speccy BITD. So, in anticipation of the shipping of my Spectrum Next, I thought I should do a little bit of light reading.

I am struggling to think of a reason to get a 4 at the moment. Other than the obvious 'because I don't have one' reason. Did you have a particular project in mind? Or just lured by the promises of a free tote bag.

RAM, basically.

I have a half-finished game, and I had an earlier version of its engine running on a Pi Zero in the past, but I suspect I'm going to need more than 1GB for what it has become.

Will be interesting to see how it performs given that the development has all been done on 2 to 4 GHz Intel systems with high performance GPUs.

I've been struggling for a while to get my AI code sorted out and I'm making slow progress, so it will be a relief when I finally get that working.

Reports are the new one fly's initially, but then as it starts to overheat and it throttles down the speed. Probably start to see heatsinks and fans being more common on PI 4s.

Finally a reasonable space to prod old computers with a soldering iron! Still WIP but getting there.

Strictly speaking I have had the shelves in a box for nearly a year but finally found time to assemble them.

I also found this. I need to build it and use it so I am more Boffin and less Lardo...

A repaired model B PSU. It had stopped working when the disc drive was plugged in so I sent it off to Retroclinic. One of the output caps had burned out and basically fallen apart which also caused a diode to fail.

Should now be good enough to plug in my BBC buggy and amaze my five year old. :D
