BeebEm version 3.0 for Windows

Post by Mike Wyatt » Mon Nov 21, 2005 7:24 pm

BeebEm V2.4beta has become version 3.0 and is on my web site now:

http://www.mikebuk.dsl.pipex.com/beebem/index.html

Finally got round to fixing the VIA and instruction timings in this release. The protection routines in tape versions of games now run. Also fixed a few video bugs and added some configuration options for AVI capture.

Thanks Mike, you've made great progress with the Tape emulation! :D

Games featuring Gary Partis' protection schemes are also working e.g. Psycastria, Sphere of Destiny, Starquake ...

Hey, did you ever get anywhere with CSW support?

I've not looked at CSW files. I will take a look at them some time though.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but...

'Frogman' still doesn't run on BeebEm 3.0.

It may be a crap game, but it certainly stress-tests the emulators

Strangest thing is, it looks like it's getting past the decryption, but then it's getting fussy about something else that's not right, and purposely resetting the machine. (I have absolutely no idea what its problem might be though; it's been far too long...)

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it :P

Cheers for a mighty fine job, Mike! That motion blur thing is awesome!

bummer

Post by CMcDougall » Thu Nov 24, 2005 10:08 am

Well tries it last night, loaded Joust, pressed 1,2 then everything, no game. Closes, then opened again, now its stuck on the task bar at the bottom  I use the ZIP versions, so gave the Install version a go (nice picture!). Still no joy  Cant get it off the task bar, wont open to screen even with Restore/Maximise etc.

So turned PC off, unplugged, waited 10secs, kicked it, turned on, still wont get off the task bar

Iam back onto v2.4b1. Just wondering is there any other files kicking about else where? its just it remembers where my folders are for discs/tapes, not in roms.cfg file (like B-em,Elk06) maybe thats got something to do with it?

Never had a go at the new AVI settings or to see if 1770dc goes back to Drive0 after loading something on Drive2 :(

Yours CM

Can you fix Pengwyn for the Electron to run on BeebEm? Electrem Future will load it. The game will run on a BBC. There are some short bits of carrier tone between some bytes.

The BeebEm windows position sometimes gets screwed up. Run regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BeebEm. Delete the keys called "WindowPos" and "WindowPos2".

I assume it loads from tape and the playing screen appears? It should say "press 1 or 2 player start button". Press F4/F5 to start.

I've not changed anything in the 1770 emulation.

Will take a look at Frogman and Pengwyn.

Just tried out BeebEm 3.0; very impressed.

The BBC UEF and ssd imageof Superior Software's Elixir from the STH library still crashes in the room with the jar of Agar.

Try this disk image:
http://www.mikebuk.dsl.pipex.com/beebem/Elixir.ssd

I put it together using the Elixir download available from:

Nice1 Mike, that did sort my screen! I used the ZIP version again, and it works fine, for your info the 'WinPos2' is back.

Also got my Tape to Disc version of Repton1 to work. Before, it would load the mode7 SS scr, but got stuck. Now loads this and then goes to 'Man out of cave' scr and game!

Still having bother with ProgPower Hell Driver keys, Sega Tapper hack version (Bas@@rdly Cracking Techniques) and The Graphics Adventure Creator Adv-Ransom(its all jiggery at bottom of screen). Don't use the one in the 143+ STH collection, it does'nt work, only the one on the 'stand alone' disc image (called GAC).

Cheers again Bud
