Could depend on your Windows settings?
You might need to run BeebEM as an administrator?

Thanks
I had to change the read/ write option for the folder where preferences.cfg is saved
Is there way of making beebem default to look at where my ssd files are saved
regards
Richard

When you installed BeebEm did you create your user settings directory in a protected location (like under C:\Program Files etc)?

This should be somewhere where you can modify files without elevation, usually your own user profile (i.e. below C:\users\<foo>\)
You can change the user directory associated with your user profile from within BeebEm via Options->Preference Options->Select User Data Folder

There's a DiscIms setting in the preferences.cfg but it seems like it gets ignored and reset to DiscIms. This seems like a bug to me.

Edit: found it, there's a single character typo in the source. I've raised an issue for it on github
