Recording video from BeebEm

Post by AndyF » Wed Jan 02, 2019 8:05 pm

This does work very well video wise however the sound always seems to get out of sync very quickly!

I looked at B-Em but that does not appear to support recording.

Any thoughts here please ?

I had considered an external Windows tool to record however I no longer have an active licence for ScreenCast (thoughtfully I had it with my last job lol) which would of been ideal and the freebie version is limited to x minutes and has no audio either.

Thanks. I'll have to look into it then if I need an external tool to put them back as they should be lol. :)
S-Cast was brilliant at this however I can't justify paying for it for the odd Beeb-Em video as I'd not use it really for anything else.

I always use ffmpeg to convert beebem's avi output to mp4. The files are much smaller, are widely supported, and I've never noticed a problem with the audio/video sync. And ffmpeg is free.

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i beebemvideo.avi newvideo.mp4

Ffmpeg can probably do it too, but I also up scale with a point sample as I think YouTube still requires at least 1280x720 to enable 50fps.
The editor works like I do to.

PS I think the desyncing is due to 50fps not being 50fps and neither interlaced or not matching either.

You could also try b2 as it is under more active development and already supports making videos.
