Rewind! The 8-bit emulator challenge

Post by lurkio »

Kind of an astonishing demo by 0xC0DE of his Electron emulator with a Rewind feature -- so you can basically "undo" if you die in a game!:

Wouldn't this be a great feature to add to BeebEm, B-em, b2, etc...?

 :D :?:

EDIT: Another demo video:

It would be great for debugging too. I write out a Shearwater for the last 100 frames on loop and then find the nearest one by hand to debug with.

I'm glad you are enjoying the rewind feature ;)
I added a visual effect while rewinding: https://twitter.com/0xC0DE6502/status/1 ... 0010784773

That is excellent work =D>
Often I have wished to rewind a bit while debugging some code!

Beebjit implements its snapshot feature by recording history and then replaying it very fast so that would probably be the easiest BBC Micro emulator to implement this feature on.
