Hi,
Closer than ever to perfection...

There are just a handful of problems to get to the bottom of:

Disk 032 Ally Pally has GRAPHICS PROBLEMS
Disk 041 The Big K.O. has GRAPHICS PROBLEMS
Disk 060 Dunjunz CRASHES (file not found at line 515) (SWR Issues)
Disk 070 (plus 072 & 074) Holed Out - Graphics problems (SWR issues)
Disk 088 Quiz Quest - Does Not Load on a real beeb from Datacentre
Disk 103 Sparce Invaders - Sound problems on real beeb - fine on BeebEm

And games with problems specific to Beebem:

Disk 025 Rig Attack FIXED!
Disk 027 Pharaoh's Curse FIXED!
Disk 034 Firetrack
Disk 046 Alien From Outta Space FIXED!
Disk 049 Winter Wonderland FIXED!
Disk 073 Shapes Game
Disk xxx Operation Safras

Could we start by looking at the one which I believe will be the easiest to sort out...

"Sparce Invaders" from disc 103
This gives Space Invader type sounds when played in BeebEm but on my real beeb with datacentre, the sounds are all wrong.
Can this be fixed? [-o<

There was a newer release of Sparse Invaders than the one on disc 103. It fixed a lot of problems with the original version, including the dodgy sound.

Since the Retro Software site is still down, I've uploaded a copy here.

Disk 103 Sparce Invaders - Sound problems on real beeb isn't fixed yet, until Mick includes the fixed version of game at disk 103!
At the moment the problem detected and found a solution, but not yet included to disk 103.

Hi all,

As for Ally Pally - I think code for the Datacentre is corrupting code for the games below &FF. It may be necessary to alter some of the gamecode to store pokes at slightly different locations.
Anyone up to the task???

I have added the fixed version of Safras to Disc 107 and hopefully that disc will be ready for xmas. Just waiting on inlay info for Castle Raider and the complete version of Mountain Panic.
Have I any chance to have access to disks with the commercial games?
Must pay someone? Who? How much?
I will be very happy if you can find a solution for me.
The completeness of this great collection is very important for me.

What info do you need for Castle Raider, exactly?

Sadly, as these are new discs, I have included new titles obtained from the Retro Site. As respect to the authors of the games and the Site itself, I have not posted any newer discs here and will not until told by Arcadian that I can do so.

Mick.
Maybe Arcadian can determine a price for all the commercial games, for those who wants to have the collection complete.
First the payment via PayPal and later the extra discs will come with email. Is this possible?

Just to update...

As for The Big Ko on Disc 041 - as it works fine for BeebEm and b-em, is it just possible that all the ROMs in the datacentre BBC are interferring.

Is it therefore possible that...
1) someone copies it to a floppy and loads it into a real BBC that doesn't have any ROMs or datacentre in it.
2) is there a command to turn off all the unnecessary chips in a datacentre BBC?

*DTRAP disables all ROMs except BASIC and RamFS.

At the end of the month I will post the newer discs minus the copyrighted material.
Could someone in charge let me know the titles NOT to include.

Hi Mick,
Arcadian said to remove Krystal connection, Zap, Repton: Lost realms, and Mountain panic. (Page 6 of this thread on June 15th)
Cheers

Just checked Disc 041 on my real BBC and *DTRAP makes no difference to the graphics glitch in the Big KO. Strange though that both emulators have no problem with it. Could it be the datacentre causing the problem?

Mick.

PS Again, if someone could copy Disc 041 onto a floppy and load it on a real BBC with no datacentre and let me know the outcome then maybe this issue can be resolved.

OK, after a few requests for them...
here goes...

Created in December 2013... here is Games Games Disc 105 (Special Edit).
Minus The Krystal Connection and Zap! (as these are still under copyright for now).
Disc105SE.zip
(148.76 KiB) Downloaded 48 times
The disc is called Disc105SE.dsd

The games on this disc include...

Barrage from Micro Power.
Maze Man (E) from The Electron User (3.11).
Death XIV (3 in 1B) from R H Software.
The Krystal Connection from Retro Software.
Bubble Bobble (Unreleased) from Firebird Software.
Harebrain by Chris Dewhurst.
Knockout (3 in 1B) from R H Software.
Trank from PCW Software.
Weenies from Cronosoft.
Damraider from The Micro User (2.03).
Jet Set Miner from Retro Software.
Gomoku from Micro Power.
Ziggy (AKA Caterpiller) (E) from The Electron User (5.04).
Jungle Journey from Retro Software.
Space-Raiders (3 in 1B) from R H Software.
Defender from Acorn Computing (11.04).
Harlequin from Kansas City Systems.
Zap! from Retro Software.

NOTE: Maze Man and Ziggy are Electron titles that have been amended to work on a BBC Micro.

EASTER EGGS: If you press ESCAPE during some of the loaders and instructions, then you can skip to loading the game... This works on Weenies and Jungle Journey.

Almost every game on this disc has been re-mastered from original sources. In many cases, instructions from the inlays have also been included and grammar errors corrected.

All original filenames have been kept where possible, but some have been changed where they conflict with the limitations of the Disc Filing System. Copy protection routines have been removed.
This disc has also been checked for *KEY related issues and is OK.

Regards,
Mick.

Created in December 2014... here is Games Disc 106 (Special Edit).
Minus Repton: The Lost Realms (as this is still under copyright).
Disc106SE.zip
(149.28 KiB) Downloaded 66 times
The disc is called Disc106SE.dsd

The games on this disc include...

Shields from Electron User Group (62).
City Defend (Joystick only) from M.G.B. Software Support.
Invaders from MP Software.
Ski-Run (Games Pack One) from Logic Systems.
Minefield from Graphic Research Ltd.
Repton: The Lost Realms from Retro Software.
Reversi from Pro Software.
Cobra from Software For All.
Car Maze from Logic Systems.
Orbit Zero from Graphic Research Ltd.
Gobbler (Side 1 or 2) from M.G.B. Software Support.
Space Invaders by David McKeran.
Grand Prix from Software For All.
The Attic Bug In SameGame from Retro Software.
Soccer Supremo from Qual-Soft.
British Isles Quiz from Computer Market.
Oxbridge from Tynesoft.
JSnake from Retro Software.

NOTE: Shields features a screen editor and you can save your screens to disc.
Also, Repton: The Lost Realms resets the disc drive (so requires *DTRAP on a real BBC Micro with a Datacentre fitted. It also features a screen editor and you can save your screens to disc.
Lastly, Soccer Supremo and Oxbridge are disc edits and you can only load and play one part at a time.

EASTER EGGS: If you press ESCAPE during some of the loaders and instructions, then you can skip to loading the game... This works on Repton: The Lost Realms and Soccer Supremo.

Regards,
Mick.

PS. I still require inlay info for Minefield by Graphics research.
