Project X The MicroMan - BBC Conversion

Post by AndyF »

I'm pleased to have finished this conversion, hopefully its bug free. Its quite a fun albeit sometimes slightly difficult adventure with traps for the unwary.

Its taken quite a considerable time to do this one given its relatively complex nature.

I was not able to contact the original authors unfortunately although given the original has been floating around for years I did not see any issue.

I may update it with a loading pic (cannot use ZX one) at a later date although the story is shown on the bit crude loader I whipped up anyway.

You're welcome. :)

I toyed with the idea of using two or three 1/3rd screenshots from the Sinclair version as a loading pic but it would be very messy indeed, so a intro / instructions page (could do with doing nicely I whipped it that up very quickly, too quickly maybe) seemed to suffice.

Hints / Solution can be found via Google (or here if you need)

The sequel to this "The O Zone" is about 85% complete.

I need to tidy it up a bit and do a (lot) of play testing to ensure its OK. I may release a beta though if required / requested.

I was bounced here from a recent adventure creators thread, and it prompted me to have a look at this game in a Speccy emulator, and I noticed that the title screen flashed by in an instant, so then I figured out how to slow down the game-loading so I could actually see the title screen, and that led me to capture it and convert it using the great BBC Micro Image Converter (as was), just for the heck of it...

Excellent. :D

I did I think toy with this (I used it with great effect for the Galaxias loading pic for example) one I'm still very pleased with, but could not get a nice effect with the ProjectX one. You've done a great job with it. :)

Thanks. It still needs a little work pre-conversion, I think, but it's doable.

Your Galaxias pic is great!

Btw, are you aware that the disc Quill has been found? See the Archive Submissions section.
