Solidisk PC-Plus

Post by Pernod » Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:21 pm

See http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/ ... k-PC-Plus/

This is a standard Acorn 80186 co-processor with additional board providing 1MB RAM. The ROMs have two bytes different from the standard ROMs to accommodate the move from &C0000 to &F0000.

Accommodate what having moved? I have a PC-Plus - I didn't think the ROMs were any different to the "later" ROMs for the 80186?

The original Acorn board maps the ROM's at &C0000, mirrored upto &FFFFF. The PC-Plus maps them at &F0000, mirrored upto &FFFFF, allowing space for the extra RAM.

What do you mean by "later" ROMs?

I was hoping for maybe a Solidisk startup banner, but at least it sees the extra RAM.
