Think I recall it from BITD, there was certainly one that looked good but didn't survive long (must have taken a lot of time and $$$s).

I bought Disc (or was it Disk) User starting from issue 4 onward and I believe I still have the magazines and the floppies somewhere.

There were some good programs on these.

I recall issue 10 had a MODE 7 game called Orlond's Meanies - I don't think I ever got through to the end (but I seem to recall the number of lives was stored in zero page in the &7x range so it was trivial to adjust that to gain more lives - and you certainly needed them by the last level.

You had to collect all the * symbols to complete each level but there were hidden areas where a number of + symbols were that would score you more points if you found them. On level 2, for example, the multi-coloured rectangles at the left of the game area can be entered if you try at the right point, and then navigating through a 'maze' you can reach the right hand side of the game area. About half way along this maze in the longest straight section, it is possible to move downwards and enter one of the large rectangles (which is made up of multiple + symbols) and collect them.

It's about time someone created a map of the levels and if anyone manages to get through the last level I'd be interested to know how it's done.

Might be more helpful to hack the game further to gain immortality (if that's possible) as it's quite frustrating to keep dying (especially as the number of meanies increases as one progresses through the levels).

Immortality and the ability to save screenshots on emulators seems like the ideal way to create level maps.
I'm writing a game where you can change your character from a Wizard to a monkey to a cat.

Well, Imogen that!
