Custom HD4.HDF with HostFS 2

Post by Trapper » Wed Sep 16, 2020 11:38 pm

Hello,

The big questions with HostFS2 is - WFT am I doing?

I lost a huge amount of data on HostFS 1 and had to code a program to change !Boot/txt (Text file) back to !Boot (Obey).

Because of this I don't trust HostFS and would rather use a hard drive file.

Is 1GB the maximum? NO buggering about in!HForm the best you can get is 1GB?

I worry as my RISC PC 600 is old and the emulation is the ultimate backup. Having to rely on HostFS triggers one of those deep, dark "Like f*cks" we all get about tech.

So:

1) Is 1GB -E the maximum HDF size
2) Is HostFS 2 far superior? I use rpcEMU that I prefer as open source. I have Virtual RPC_Adjust SA (legal!) Many RISC OS 2/3 emulators.

Basically, help!

What did the program do that you couldn't do via rpcemu or the file explorer on the host?
