Control Universal 6809 board

Post by bprosman » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:41 pm

At my first employer we developed software on a Cube (Eurocube-6809) from Control Universal UK system running on a 6809 Eurocard and Flex OS. Browsing trough the internet I found some info about the system :

http://mdfs.net/Software/Tube/6502/CUBE/

But for some reason no references (schematics) to the 6809 board, its all 6502 only.

As I really liked this system and for the "emotional value" it would be nice to rebuild such a system as well.

Kind regards, Bram

There was loads of stuff on Lee Davison's site, but it's gone offline. The 6809 card may have been similar to the Acorn 6809 card here as the CUBE products were essentially a continuation of Acorn's Eurocard systems.

According to someone on the 6502.org forums, it would appear that Lee Davison sadly died last year, aged only 49.

That is sad to hear :-( 49 should only be half-way :-(.
I have tried the "wayback" machine but it Lee's site was only partially there.

@jgharston, looking at the 6809 board it is not the same, the schematic looked more like this one :

I can also recall a neat part that you could send a hardware reset (via the break) over the RS232 line.

Will continue searching.

Kind regards, Bram

Hi Bram,

Did you see my topic about the Atom 6809 board? It's not like the Acorn 6809 boards but it's running Flex 8)

Although I still have to make some improvement in the disk emulation, it's quite getting to a working state.

Greetings,

Hi Roland, looks good :-) Actually I cant wait till my mancave is ready. I had a few extra hands today helping in pulling the wiring for the lights, wall outlets etc.
Within a few weeks it should be done :D .
Are those CPLD's still easy to get ? I noticed you also used them on the Atom.

Kind regards, Bram

Hi Bram,

I order the cold's at Farnell. They are affordable and most times in stock. I have a business account so I'm not bound to the minimum order limit. Just shout if you need some.

Greetings,
Roland

Although I'm having a cold and do a lot of Aaaachoooo I really meant CPLD's. I hate it when the spelling checker thinks that I'm making typos.....

I'll start a new thread about CPLD's very soon.
