I've recently acquired (via Mr E. Bay) a 3 inch drive. The label on the back tells me it is a "Janome MFD80".
During testing the belt slipped off which I thought was unusual as they are normally very tight. On opening the case I discovered that the reason it had fallen off was a rather unfortunate gap where the belt had snapped.
Does anyone know if/where suitable replacements might be obtained?

Re: 3" disc drive belt
Mr Google has not been a lot of help. It seems Janome make sewing machines - I'm not sure they'd be able to cope with the discs I'm trying to read...

Re: 3" disc drive belt
The case will be the janome model number and more than likely the drive inside will be same as all the amstrad and generic 3 inch disk drives so ebay is your friend. More than plenty of those belts on sale.

Here are top and bottom shots of the drive. I'm not ready to skin it alive unless and until I discover that there is more wrong with it than just the drive belt.

Re: 3" disc drive belt
The very nice people at Retro Computer Shack have just sent me the replacement belts (One extra spare, just in case), for 4 quid which I thought was very reasonable... Now to see if they fit
Wish me luck

Re: 3" disc drive belt
Looks like the belt is a perfect fit, so now to see if the rest of the drive is in better shape.
