I've spent some time on my first go at repairing a BBC Micro (B, possibly A), and devling into soldering as a novice!
I've replaced C1, C2 and C9 in the PSU, and replaced 2 power posts on the motherboard.
For the first time in probably 25-30 years, I've just turned it on!
To my (slight) suprise it showed signs of life, but as I don't have any visual output yet, I can't 100% confirm.
However - there does appear to be an issue - I don't get the normal 2 tone power on beep. Instead I get the single lower tone, just once - and it sounds a little phased. Also the caps lock light is on, but doesn't respond to pressing the key.
Any suggestions?

Check you've not got an off-by-one error on your keyboard connector.
I had something like that symptom (IIRC) when I put the connector on one pin out of line.

I just checked and it seemed ok, but re-seated it anyway.
At the same time I double checked all the power cables from the PSU were connected securley to the motherboard - and then of course another power tab/post came off as I did.

Guess i need to order some more and go again!
