ElkSD Plus 1 Card?

Post by kurgen »

after dragging my electron out of my wardrobe where its been hiding well for 20 years at least. I bought the ElkSD Plus 1. after loading a 4gb SD card formatted to fat32 and only copying over the beeb.mmb file it just says "Card?" i have tried FAT16 and FAT32. the SD card i used is this cheapo one from Amazon. maybe its not good enough. ? the supplier only seems to be contactable via ebay messaging.

I hang out here as well :D

As I said via Ebay, it's a problem with the card you're using. A few of the really cheap Chinese ones don't implement SPI mode correctly, and the ElkSD uses SPI to communicate with the card.

It's not an age or capacity thing either, to be honest. Provided the card is > 1GB and formatted as FAT32 pretty much any card of any capacity from a major brand will work fine. I use a mixture of 2/4/16/32GB SanDisk, Kingston and Samsung cards to test ElkSDs before they ship.
