Master to VGA or DVI monitor

Post by archie456 » Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:44 pm

Hi,

After 30 something years I'm now the proud owner of a Master 128 again.

Now my first problem is how to connect it to a display, the monitors I have only accept a VGA or DVI input.

Is there any kit that anyone can recommend to connect the Master?

I'm sure I'm not the first person with this issue, but I can only find SCART solutions which are no good to me...

Thanks.

I've just bought myself a GBS8200, for about 17 quid off Amazon, because I heard great things about it here. This unit takes the RGB signal from a BBC/Electron and converts it to a VGA. Plus there are a few threads detailing mods to improve the signal.

Or you could use Hoglet’s RGB to HDMI board, you can get HDMI to vga dongles. I have done that before.

Another common configuration is an RGB to SCART cable plus an Elephas SCART to HDMI converter plus an HDMI to DVI cable.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm interested to find out how the GBS8200 turn out. Googling it there seems to be a few issues with it.

Might try the Hoglet’s RGB to HDMI board but it seems all parts are not available - am unsure of where you would get the RGBtoHDMI hat... It does not look like its an off the shelf item - are there any tutorials for this setup?

It's currently only available as a "build it yourself" project.

I have plently of the bare PCBs.

The bill of materials is here:

The board is mostly surface mount, so you need a bit of experience to build it successfully.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll take a look, though I think its a little beyond my abilities...

Cheers.

Personally a 2nd shop/reclaimer/recycle type place and a very cheap old flat tv with rgb scary input would be best option and cost ya next to nothing, then just need the compatible scart cable to go direct from master to tv.
