I'm about to start gently hacking at my Master motherboard to try and remove the g65sc12 as I want to have it socketed. I decided to look for a spare just in case - the cheapest is a "littlediode" ebay job at £30 with no picture - are they really that uobtainable?

Available at $7 apparently. I've never used them (utsource) but have seen then referred to here.

Mmm, that might be worth a punt for a few spares...as it turns out the solder gun worked flawlessly and the cpu is now socketed...being soak tested by the child playing pod!
