Crescent Disc Filing System

Post by lurkio » Mon May 20, 2019 3:01 pm

Anyone know anything about the Crescent Double Density Disc Filing System for the Beeb? Found a manual for it on eBay:
Never heard of it before.

Archive.org turns up an ad for what I think is the same company but not for the DDFS itself (or maybe that’s what the “Crescent DFS” is in the table at the bottom of the ad):

That looks like the relevant advert. As there are no compatibility claims and I'm not aware of any reviews, I wouldn't expect there to be many out there.

There also the Kenda Professional that's MIA. It came in an epoxy blob.

Never heard of this one, but I do have the Kenda DMFS, although I am struggling to find any pictures of it.

Would appreciate anything you have on it, photos, ROM image, utilities disc, etc. [-o< There's a decent review in Beebug Vol.2 Iss.8.

It will happen eventually, it's been in storage for 9 years. My notes say it has a broken pin on the main unit, and suggest that something else is missing. I think I recall a thin A5 comb-bound manual with it as well. I'm not sure how it escaped being photographed before going into storage. The whole idea was to photograph everything being put away, which is why it took about 5 years to get everything into storage instead of the estimated couple of weeks! But I'll bring it back and have a look at it when I can.

Thank you. Even if its six months or so before you have chance to think about taking a look for it to grab a few pics etc, it would be appreciated as information/pics do seem to be a bit thin on the ground of this. :D :D
