Cumana CS400 40/80 switchable disk drive

Post by thomass » Sat May 19, 2018 2:45 pm

Hello,

I've recently acquired one of these drives. Does anybody know how the 40/80 switch is wired up as some idiot has smashed it up and cut the cables for some reason before selling it. I can repair the cables but have no idea how the switch was wired up, I just have four cables coming from the floppy drive PCB which are two white, one yellow and one red. See attached picture.

It's Shugart SA465-3AA branded floppy drive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Thomas

Update: I've managed to get the drive to work after a bit of wrangling. Does anybody know if there is there a service manual available for these drives ?

Cumana just put proprietary drives into cases. You need to figure out who actually made the drive, and then try Googling that.
