BeebSID 2.4 design files.

Post by Prime » Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:56 pm

Hi All,

Here's the design files for BeebSID version 2.4, these are almost identical to the 2.3 files of the version I produced except for a couple of fixes :

1) Added missing 1K resistor across the SID output.
2) Widened all power tracks to 24mils.

Project files are for Eagle, and should work in any version after 6 (including freeware).
BeebSID Mk2.4.zip
(95.52 KiB) Downloaded 109 times
Cheers.

Thanks Phill - really appreciate this.

If anyone wants a BeebSID board, I'm going to put in an order for some more VideoNuLA PCBs soon and will hopefully get a small number BeebSID PCBs made at the same time under a dirt cheap deal (they're not lead free or I'd use it for the NuLA boards).

Some are already spoken but I'll offer the rest on here just for the cost of P&P.

Yes please! I’d be very grateful if you’d put me down for one of your BeebSID pcbs - thanks :D

Will do. I've ordered them so they should be here in a week or so.

Are you able to offer a fully built BeebSID Rob, or is it just the PCB?

It's just the bare PCB as I don't have any SIDs.

However, if someone knows of a reliable source of SIDs, I could probably build a few if people don't fancy doing the soldering themselves...

Hey Rob!

I have a spare 8580 SID so would a populated board with a socket for the SID be doable? Sorry to Prime for hijacking the thread somewhat! :)

Sure - in that case, I could build one for you.

I'll work out the cost of the parts and will put a board aside for you.

Yeah that's basically what I did with the ones I supplied, mounted all the components except the SID which the user had to supply.

And no probs on thread :)

Cheers.

Certainly Mark.

Probably got another couple left (possibly three) if anyone else wants one.

Is the V2.3 parts list still current?

The boards arrived today and look good :D. I'm going to try to confirm the BoM before looking at making up some kits.

Happy to post out bare boards for those who want one (or I'll be at Wakefield for those who'll be there too).

Nice one Rob! :D

And I will get around to sending that Amiga board to you when I get back to the UK in late May, really I will!

I can't answer that directly, however the notes in the schematic don't indicate any value changes (and neither does the posting at the start of this thread). I'm working from an excel-format Bill of Materials (parts list) file produced after importing the Eagle files into DesignSpark, a PDF schematic produced in much the same way and the notes on the BeebSid web pages. I can provide the two files if they're of use. Ones produced directly from Eagle may well be preferable though.

I've generated a BoM from Eagle and have identified suppliers for all the parts. However it works out just short of £20 without the SID :(

If anyone is able to source the parts for less, that would be good!

I still have some bare PCBs left too...

Iirc that's roughly what they cost last time around minus the Sid.

Would be interested to see one of the 2.4 boards, will of course pay the going rate for the bare board.

Cheers.

I've finally managed to get my board built as well.
Many, many thanks to both Rob and Phill. I've only been waiting 7 years... :D

Building my 2.4 at the moment. SwinSID on order. I already have a working 2.3 with a real SID, but it is in the loft and easier to build a new one that try and find it!

I'd be interested to know if you get that going, I tried an erlier incarnation of the SwinSID, but could not get it to work properly.

Cheers.

Will do, my original plan had been to knock up something myself, but thought I would try the latest SwinSID first. I may yet be hunting in my loft for my SID chip.

Working fine with nano swinsid, worked first time, running at original 12v sid. Not tried changing SwinSID and Beebsid to 9v.

Which is great as I look for my Beebsid 2.3 and original SID and cant find them.

Would love to buy one of these if there's another run - or any spare boards. Assembly not a problem - I guess I could just get a board run myself.

Thanks, I've PM'd RobC =D Worst case I will get some boards ordered from OSHPark or somewhere. Anyone know what IC's are required other than a SID?
