ROM for the Acorn IEEE-488 wedge...

Hi,

I recently own a nice Acorn IEEE-488 wedge thanks to Baz... :D

Now I like to know which of these files:

https://acorn.huininga.nl/pub/roms/Acorn/IEEEFS/

http://mdfs.net/System/ROMs/Interface/

is the right or most suitable file for my IEEEFS.ROM? :?

Must the Eprom be a 27128D rom or another type?

Greetings, Wim... :-)

I've used IEEEFS0.5 to work with my kit, although to very little avail as you can't do much without an IEEE488 device attached to the adapter.

I seem to recall that there is a mistake in the manual which is corrected in JGH's version - possibly there is a thread on here about this. My last set of pictures of IEEE488 kit are from January 2012, so it could be around that time.

Thanks for the info... :-D

Which type of EPROM did you use?

I used one of those in the 80's. I remember speaking to the author of the software on the phone. The author was blind. There was a mistake either in the manual or the software. We got it working.

It's an 8K ROM image. A 27128 should be fine, you can also use a 2764 if you have one lying around.

Yes, the page detailing the OSWORD control block in the manual is wrong. It needs the following paragraph adding:
NOTE:
The bytes passed in XY+0 and XY+1 must be the length of the whole control
block, including the length bytes. Consequently, the above arg0 and arg1
values must be increased by 2 before being placed in the control block.
which I've done with the copies on mdfs.net.

I make quite a bit of use of sideways RAM for loading ROM images, and only usually commit them to EPROM if I need a permanent solution.

On my Econet file server, I often have users created specifically for the purpose of loading a particular ROM, eg. *I AM IEEE, *I AM ANFS418, *I AM BASIC4 etc.
