only one of its kind: electron SMART USB ch375b

Post by duikkie » Thu Apr 28, 2016 2:17 pm

its has been a struggle , and i will never do it a gain.

but here it is ::::

a expansion board for the electron, because i only have a electron + plus1 and no software or data recorder

on the board a eeprom , 74ls139, tube connector + ch375b connector

the shematics will follow ( but i don't have programs for that)

the eeprom is programmed with exmon2 low and SMART-usb for electron high (at28c256)

the expantion rom in plus1 is f*cking with my &d00 table so has to disable it (&0d68..&0d7f)

the 74ls139 select the &FCF0 and &FCF1(can be &FCF8) and the tube (&FCE0..&FCEF)

now the pictures

well done !!

Yeah, the STH collection menu will not work.
What does PAGE sit at, hopefully &E00 [-o<

got a elk.MMB file, but only a menu on the actual disc playing on, does not do all 510 :x

no the page is &1700, because it is the dfs 0.9 for beeb
e00 to fff is cat for disc sector 0 and 1 &1000 to &1100 workspace dfs &1100 to &1700 for files.

it is at last the dfs and not adfs for electron :shock:
maybe what for dave to make a mmfs or something like that.
but the hole userport thing is gone.

Why are you putting data in somebody else's memory and not expecting that somebody else to trample on it?

If you're the NMI owner you own &D00-&D5F, if you want to use &D00-&D5F you MUST be the NMI owner.
If you're the Econet system you own &D60-&D67, if you want to use &D60-&D67 you MUST be the Econet system.
If you're the Master Econet system you own &D68-&D7F, if you want to use &D68-&D7F on the Master you MUST be the Econet system
If you're the Electron Expansion system you own &D68-&D7F, if you want to use &D78-&D7F on the Electron you MUST be the Electron Expansion system.

Unless you are the Electron Expansion system you DO NOT own &D68-&D7F and anything you attempt to put there can and will get trampled on by the actual owner, the Electron Expansion systm.

yeah , yeah , i have to look for a place or replace things in &d00 area, but why the hell is electron different in the &d00 area ?
designing is not my thing. i know that someone out here design things for electron :lol:

so maybe this becomes next at his list ? a ATU #-o :D ??

It really is only one of its kind ... according to this site there is only one piece sold until now. Let me guess who bought it :lol:

Very very cool job, a lot cheaper than the Elk MMC of John Kortink. I think I'm going to order one and create a PCB. Including the tube interface is a nice idea, that makes my Elk also suitable for my copro board. Maybe also add a 1 MHz port and some room for sideway roms or rams. Oops, that will be a bigger project.

One thing is not clear to me .... how do you make DFS work with such a device?

a lot of programming :lol: , it is called smulk :) , i can upload it. but because it is only one of its kind, we have to make a pcb board, i only have a prototype, and maybe a lot of errors in the software yet, the &d00 area and other adress that are different with beeb. look at my new project with ch375b for beeb and all will be clear :evil:

Sales are going well at the moment. They sold four pieces in the last couple of hours.

If nobody else has time to do it, I'll reinstall KiCad on my mac and draw a schematic diagram and design the board. And I still like the idea of adding some sideway ram. It could be one large ram chip with software driven write protect, just like the Atom has.

I started a small sketch of the diagram for this project. I do however have some questions to Duikkie:
  • What's the trick with the NPN transistor at pin 22 (OE). In your diagram it seems to be an open collector inverter with its input tied to +5V so always pulling OE to a low level.
  • Where does ROMOE (pin 20 CE) come from?
  • You use the rom as 2 banks of 16k, right? Where does A14 (pin 1) come from?
  • Where does the /TUBE signal come from?

pin 22 is a switch with the nWE line at pin 27 :) , but the trouble is if 10k is connected to r/nw any r/nw operation will program the eeprom look at other picture link martin. so for normal use to 5 volt noe low

pin 20 nromoe comes from pin a2 plus1 slot connector
pin 1 has multi function a14 to a12 is protected mode for eeprom see holy grail eeprom. a14 to 10k --5 volt only 1 bank
or a14 to romQA from a16 plus1 rom slot connector

the not tube is from beeb by electron it is called nfc pin a14 plus 1 rom slot connector

the 2 mhz is the ph12 pin a8

a14bs is wrong

RW allways to pin27

jp1 1=5 volt
.....2= to 10k and npn - oe
.....3 =rw

jp2 1=romqa
.....2= pin1 (a14) ..2a= pin2 (a12)
.....3 = 10k..5volt

Thanks, it made some things clear. I intended the jumpers to make it possible to install an 28C256 eeprom or an 27256 eprom. I'll update my diagram when I have some time for it.

so where is the bug ??? , it is good that nobody else has the usb smart for electron yet :lol:

go for it :) , you don't need much parts. pcb board , eeprom or prom , npn, few resitors , 74ls139, lot of wires, and a lot of time :)

someone started a shematic , but not finish it :( , making a pcb board is allso not there :(

i will update the software sometime service call &15 from plus1 still troubling me.

I am the someone who started the diagram. Unfortunately I don't have very much time for this project. But I'll continue to work on it when the time is available.

Somebody else might help me to find or create the 22p slot for Eagle.

it is summer :) , so no time is very comment, much other things to do , and most of the time the old computer is standing in a hot room.

the project don't walk away. there is a lot of software to convert to ssd. the menu is in mode 6 but the data file d.games is not for electron yet ( stupid ms access :) )

and allso in this project a connector for electron's without plus1. connector electron rear to pcb board . the hole usb-smart for electron don't need a plus 1 at all. it gives only problems :(
