ArcFS - SparkPlug can't run on A4000 & OS 3.11

Post by Scanny » Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:52 pm

Hi there,
I have a A4000 running under OS3.11 (booted from ROM) and an IDE Flash drive. It was pre-formatted when I received it (with the software visible on the bottom part of the screen). I can play !Patience or use the !SciCalc without issue.

I did manage to copy & install ArcFS (self extracted Bin) and SparkPlug 2.26 (self extract basic).
However, I can not start any of them.

!ArcFS always returns the error "Can't initialise ArcFS memory management" (see capture here under)

!SparkPlug always returns "System resources cannot be found" (see capture here under)

So, I suspect my file system (on the HDD) to not be properly Installed. I don't see any !System into my IDE (but did already see it on some screen capture).

Any suggestion would be welcome... Heeelllpp

SparkPlug has an unecessary requiremnts to have seen a !System folder. You can modify the !Run file to remove the check.

https://www.4corn.co.uk/articles/sparkplug/

Check the section "Modify !Sparkplug.!Run to not Error"

Has anyone ever bothered to construct a new self-extracting SparkPlug with a fixed !Run file? This used to drive me crazy!

Also find the "RISC OS 3.11 Application disk" on the Chris Acorn's page.

Source: See "RISC OS 3.11 Applications Disc " (Acorn_ROS311App.zip) here on chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk

This allowed me to restore my !System folder with the help of !SparkPlug
:D :D :D :D :D
