Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th August 2012
The Lass O'Gowrie
36 Charles Street
Following on from last July's popular and well-attended In Da 80s event, and this past January's Homebrew Gaming Weekend, The Videolympics is this year's big summer event from the monthly "Computer Club" gaming evenings team, taking place on the weekend of 4th-5th August 2012 at the usual venue, the Lass O'Gowrie Pub in the heart of Manchester.
The Videolympics located downstairs in the pub will consist of a huge selection of old and new games running on consoles and computers available for public play, along with a range of gaming competitions to cash in on complement this year's Olympics festivities.
Upstairs there'll be a gathering of the best in modern homebrew coders and gamers with their latest works on display over a myriad of consoles and computers, including our crack Atom squad who are aiming to reunite and recreate last year's lets-rip-a-C64-off-the-wall experience.
The transport links into the city centre are pretty good, and if you want to stay over there's an Ibis hotel or Days hotel* nearby worth checking out. Although not widely advertised, it should be possible to book student rooms from the Days hotel during the summer for as low as £28, if you call them direct and ask.
This is the second event this year that we're hoping members of this forum will try to attend, following this year's Wakefield Show 2012 in April.
As usual, do let us all know if you're planning on attending by posting a reply to this topic.
