Don't even think about it, I ain't no bronie! I am long overdue an avatar since I actually frequent this forum every day. I'll find something, probably Thrust related. :)

Just joined the forum. I would like to attend the meeting. I have a working Control Universal Eurobeeb system and some homebrew second processors running Control Universal BeebFlex that I would like to show if anyone is interested.

Will try to book in at the Travel lodge so I was planning to drive up Friday afternoon and leave on Sunday. May not stay the entire day on Sunday as 5pm seems a bit late but it depends on what everyone else is doing. I am retired so don't have to be up for work on Monday.

Most people don't have to be up for work on Monday; it's a bank holiday. \:D/

You can update my attendance to Friday to Sunday, as that nice Mr Flibble will be giving me a lift :-)

I've nipped in and updated Jason's post to confirm your attendance - you got the last place!

Done.
sirmorris wrote:Tentative for the whole weekend for me, please.
Have added you to the tentative list BUT all 22 places have already been taken

Jason - how do you advise we proceed? Previously I think we've had a waiting list as well as a tentative list. Or maybe we could just convert Tentative into a Waiting List?

Also, it'd be a shame if Charlie didn't get to see fellow Atomites, Kees and Wim - at the moment there's effectively one place "free" on the Sunday, as flaxcottage is only attending on the Saturday - could the Sunday space be offered?

I haven't visited myself so haven't seen the space, was just going by what had been posted previously ...
jbnbeeb wrote:I want to keep the limit to 22 peeps, as the feedback I've been given is that much beyond that and it'll get a little cramped in the space the museum has allocated to us.
I don't mind not bringing any gear myself (other than maybe a laptop, which wouldn't need tablespace) if it means freeing up an additional place for Charlie (assuming he's able to commit) ... as I know Kees would be keen to see him again, and think Wim has yet to meet him(?)

Hi,
re attendee numbers, 22 was derived from feedback from the Centre; they said that 20 was "comfortable" (which I understand is 2 to a table) and 30 was "cramped". So I don't think it would be good to increase from 22 for people bringing kit.

However, I think we could have a few more attend for those happy NOT to bring kit. I'll suggest an arbitrary number of 5 for "no kit" peeps in addition to the 22 "with kit" peeps. This number picked on the assumption that these people would still like to sit around tables which will already have 2 people sat there with kit.

As for Waiting List - I'll put one up based on the order in which requests to attend occurred. If a person on the confirmed list drops out, the person highest up the Waiting list will get first dibs on the vacated slot.

I'll update the top post now.

Just a laptop, which I don't think counts as 'kit'?

Wim and I are also bringing just a laptop.

It would be nice to meet Charlie again, it has been a few years ago since we met so I guess he has a long beard and grey hair now ...... :)

Greetings
Kees

Hi Sarah - agreed - a laptop needn't take up much space..

..in which case.. I'll move you to the "No Kit" list , which frees up a slot on the "Kit" list.

Charlie and Jonathan (JGH) were both tentative though.. so I'll keep them on Waiting for now. Hmm this could get complicated couldn't it :) I guess the way I'll play it is... JGH and Charlie.. if someone comes in and says "yes I can definitely attend"... they'll go on the kit list. :-k Is that fair?

EDIT: I've updated the lists on the assumption that Sarah and DaveM are only bringing laptops. Thus the lists currently stand at 20 for "with kit" (max 22) and 2 for "without kit" (max 5). JGH and Charlie on Waiting List until they confirm.

Thanks,
Jason

Of course. Apologies I misunderstood the message up thread. I see the list has been updated.
So presently we are at 21 for with kit, and 1 for without.

Thanks,
Jason

I won't be bringing any kit as my hardware skills are almost non-existent :-( I'm hoping to look and learn from the experts :-)

Could end up spending a lot of time out of the way upstairs archiving or whatever else needs doing to make myself useful!

A thought - as the public will still be passing through we will be a sort of living exhibit(!), so it might be helpful to have someone to field questions and explain what is going on to avoid them disturbing those doing the actual "work". Maybe have some flyers about StarDot?
