When I contacted them I asked that. They didn't give me a limit. I suggested it could be up to 25 or so. They said to let them know what the numbers are like closer to the time. The room they've got set aside is pretty big, but not that many tables. I reckon it'll take 20 of us. So I'll contact them once we're at that number. The main area where most exhibits are is huge, so I wonder if they might host us there if we get 20+ responding.

IanS, I've added you to tentative list.

Jason,

I just checked out the TravelLodge on Newmarket Road and it seems to be one of those without any parking.

Do you know if there would be any available at the venue?

I guess this is probably to be expected in central Cambridge.

Does anyone know what the situation is with parking? If I'm going to bring any kit, I will have to drive. Most of the nearby hotels either don't offer parking or charge almost as much for parking as they do for the rooms. Do you think we will be able to park at the Centre on Friday afternoon and leave our cars there all weekend?
There is so much wonder in the universe; why should you want to imagine that there is more?

The museum website says "We have limited parking available at the Centre, with more close by. This space is increased at the weekend."

..I'll contact them to find out more.
Oversight from me re the hotel I just booked - parking is an extra charge :/

It looks as if it would be cheaper to leave our cars at the Centre (if we can) and then to use taxis, public transport or walking to get to and from the hotels.

Another option is to find a local car park with reasonable rates and dump the car once off-loaded.

The NCP at Cambridge Station seems quite reasonable:

Hi guys,
I've heard back from the museum re numbers and parking:

" With 20 people you'll have a good amount of space - 30 will be possible, but cramped. We have our own parking right outside the building. We'll need to lock the gates at night, but their is further parking on the estate. You'll have to leave the cars there at your own risk, though."

So we're good for parking.

Re an attendee limit.. re the above comments.. I suggest we have a limit of 22 so as not to be cramped.

Presently, we've got 14 on confirmed list and 4 on tentative.

They also would like to post the event up on their website. I'm minded to leave that a week or two as it seems we'll reach this limit without throwing it open to wider audience.

Hi guys,
I've updated the list. 17 confirmed at this point. I want to keep the limit to 22 peeps, as the feedback I've been given is that much beyond that and it'll get a little cramped in the space the museum has allocated to us.

It's an Eldis Explorer Vogue 304 about the smallest 4 berth you can find. Mrs H wanted the opportunity to take the Grad Kid along (not this trip, however!). Pride of place, inside, is my Aldi Nespresso machine :D Hmmmmm! Coffee . . .

Hi. Been in the Acorn wilderness for a while. Work, home Renovations and Mobile Strike being distractions. I am in Cambridge every couple of months anyway, big John Lewis, and not been to the computer museum (was at Sedgwick museum, near John Lewis, this weekend in fact), so I may pop in, even if only with the family in the public opening bit. Will play it by ear.

Regards.

jbnbeeb has asked me to create ID badges with usernames/avatars etc for Cambridge ... which I've just done for everybody on the confirmed list that has an avatar.

I have no avatar on file for hoglet, kieranhj and mattyj - would you like to add one to your profiles, or shall I pick them at random from the default library below? ;)
