Will there be any time or opportunity for anyone to archive the MIA titles that the centre has?
Either by backing up the files, or even tape-to-taping them.
I haven't got my list to hand but it maybe 6 to 12 titles.
If permission can be given before the meeting, and I can supply a list, so the titles are made available, if no one else volunteers, I will see if I can get time to come down myself.
I don't even have to be in the meeting room. But if I have to be, then I am only very small and am good at fitting in corners :D

I intend to be there and am happy to help in any way I can. I don't have any equipment, so I expect I will have to ask if we can use theirs unless anyone else has anything.

I notice they sell discs, so that is OK. Of course I have no idea what I am doing, but there will be plenty of people I can ask!

It looks almost impossible for me to get there :(
The ideal solution, If possible, would be to get permission to take the MIA tapes away for careful archiving and then return them.
What is the possibility of this happening Jason?
I will post my list of titles they have as soon as I return from my hols on Monday..

Hi Lee,
there's room for a couple more people to come along and mill about - it's just that there'll be no space to sit at a table..those spaces are definitely all allocated barring one person who's only coming on saturday.

If you want people to look for software if you can't make it down, I'm sure that'll be fine. They've already said they'll let us explore their "attic" with tonnes of h/w s/w after museum opening hours. Just let me know what you're after ..

Edit: as for taking away and archiving: I don't know. I'll ask. They've been difficult to get hold of recently but I'll be making a concerted effort over coming days as we're getting ever closer to the meet up dates. Will post back when I have news.

I'll try to PM everyone re the restaurant Saturday night this weekend

Is there space for one more "milling" person? This would be the first one I could actually make! Understand if not.

I don't think Lee's coming along.

I think we could only squeeze two more people to permanently be in the room alongside everyone that's on the list (and be without seat at a table).

The rest of the museum is pretty big so if people want to come along for the day, check the
museum out and come visit the room where ABUG is , that's fine.. The room will be open throughout the weekend for any museum visitor to have a nosey/have a chat to us..

So I guess in short: if you and one other come along for the weekend with no seat guaranteed, that's fine.. thereafter, anyone else will have to be a normal museum visitor, and may not be able be in the room all day if other visitors want to pop in.

I hope I'm not sounding like some kind of strict schoolmaster  (!).. I'm just mindful that the room is only so big, all tables are occupied and members of the public will be passing through the room too.

Thanks,
Jason

He did work for ECCE Productions and has written lots of programs for the Atom, he also did write ATOMIC MACHINE CODE and some other books.

He told me he has already notified the Centre about his visit.

Hmm! I may not be able to make this event, after all  I'm currently in Margate hospital with another bout of cellulitis :? It started early Friday morning. Friday afternoon I was blue lighted to Margate from Deal. Boy that ambulance driver could shift!

Supposed to be discharged this evening, however, it's got a lot worse since this morning, bugger . . . Different leg, this time (right). Max temp has been 39.8!

Anyway, I'll see how I recover this time - took a couple of weeks with my left leg. Hay-ho

Get well soon and watch that temperature. Dad survived 41.6, astonishing the hospital, but it did burn about 20 years of his memories and took months to get back to his old self.

Please do get better soon - lest, I fear, I will be trying to desolder things at all sorts of skew-whiff angles.

Seriously though, I really do hope you get better soon.

Ouch, that sounds awful - hope you have a speed recovery!

On the topic of bringing kit to the Cambridge meetup, will anyone be planning to bring an original ARM dev system copro, or original 6502 copro? I'd be interested to try running some benchmarks on them.

They have a BBC with an Opus 8272 board and Opus DDOS 3.00 according to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09alLIz16ck

Any chance of it being found and dumped?

Hi all,
Been v busy so not had chance to update thread for a while.

I've updated the top post with those who have responded to my PM requesting whether those coming along would like to go to the restaurant on saturday night.

Can anyone who hasn't got back to me please reply ASAP by PM or post on this thread if that suits?

For info - the Turkish can also do burgers, pizzas, chips, chicken nuggets etc if you'd rather not eat Turkish food.

List of peeps I've not had a reply from:

flynnjs (Jason)
JimRussell
Arcadian (Dave)
Bagpuss (Andy)
jgharston (Jonathan)

Hi, I've added these requests to top post for me to pass on to the museum. Have I missed anything? Any more requests to add? I've mailed below to museum and will phone them tomorrow.

- Request to search the attic for "Missing in Action (MIA)" software titles for Acorn machines - and to archive and catalogue these items. Archiving meaning taking a dump of files on tape or disk for storing on the bbcmicro.co.uk website as well as cataloguing for the Centre.
- A request to take a number of software titles offsite (borrow) for archiving and return them by post by an acceptable time thereafter.
- A request to take a dump of a ROM in one of the Centre BBC Micros (an MIA version of Opus DOS)
- Several people have offered to catalogue items for the Centre
