Since this is on my doorstep, I think it'd be rude of me not to at least attempt to try to attend.

Put me down as a no-kitter for now, and if there's any no-shows, my lock up is around the corner so I can always drag my setup out.

If I get my viewdata / teletext stuff working, I'd probably like to show that off ... but I'm still faffing with that at the moment alas.

I must get around to getting them to show me their communitel setup too.

Is that okay ?

-S
Yeah, that’s fine. I’ve put you down for all three days. Let me know if you want any changes made.

Hi, presumably if you just want to attend for a look around and a chat, no need to book, even as a "no kitter"??

If you wish to attend to visit and look around the museum and chat in the common area, yes no need to book.

If you do wish to spend any length of time in the room that we (ABUG) are using, then due to space considerations, we prefer members to book so that there are no problems with too many people trying to be all in one place at the same time.

I should have come to this last year, because I'm very local, but I didn't make it. Having limited places makes me think twice about booking because I don't have anything specifically productive to do, and I don't want to consume a place that could usefully be taken by someone who has some actual work to do.

So: Put me down as a no-kitter for the Saturday, and if someone else desperately needs the place then I'll bow out gracefully.

One thing I could do is to bring the BEEBUG advertising supplements that I mentioned in this thread, which don't seem to be widely available:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14184

If anyone has the capability and inclination to scan them, then I'll bring them along. Otherwise I'll just try to help out if I can; I might bring along some tools and test gear in a bag or something in case they end up being useful, but I certainly don't need a table.

As I mentioned earlier in the post - I'm just down the road. I have a decent scanner too. Maybe we can arrange something? PM perhaps?

Q1. How big is a half table? Just checking if I need to make shelf to go over Master so I can put a Small TV on it.

Q2. is everyone happy If I do a Game Sation? My plan to let peope play with all the Games on the BBC or they could try out wrting a basic program which I could find exmaples on the internet and print them or make one. Might be fun with the kids.

Q3. Do ABUG show have a logo? Thinking putting on top of page for the examples programes. Just a thought. :D

There are still full tables available if you do want more room. The tables are fairly large, but I don’t have actual dimensions to hand. If you look back at photos of previous events at Cambridge, that may help you. The previous events end up in this sub-forum. Last year Jason posted about table size in this post but also did not have actual dimensions.

A ‘game station’ is fine.

Logos here

Not sure if there were any other discussions on a logo... :?

Mark,

I have just read your post in full. I hadn't realised you are not able to attend. You are a real star for organising this in the circumstances. I usually arrive early to these events, so happy to help with setting up. I can also stay late on Sunday to help tidy away.

I also have a lot of cash left over in the kitty from the last ABUG South which I was planning to use to buy a supply of snacks and soft-drinks for this event.

On a separate note, being realistic about the kit I am planning to bring, please could I upgrade to a full table.

Hi Robert

I’ve updated the list to reflect your upgrade to a full table.

We all would be very grateful for a supply of snacks and soft-drinks. But as always with these things, it may be a good idea to check with the museum (or Jason may know) just to check that they are okay with this (I have forgotten what happened when we last there, my memory being distorted by the large piles of goodies at the more recent ABug South and ABug Midlands events... ).

To Andrew and Robert

Dave H. is the lead on site. So I’m sure he will be pleased to accept any help. We don’t get the room on Friday until an event that is happening earlier in the day finishes, hence the 4pm start time. As time may be tight, help moving tables, setting up the room and sorting out mains extension leads would be most grateful :D

And on the Sunday afternoon, help getting the room back to a respectable state would also be wonderful.

So thanks in advance for offering to help.

And also thanks to the other offers of help by other members that were given further up thread.

Mark

Last time there was a similar supply of snacks and soft-drinks purchased with the left-over funds from the previous ABUG South! But I will check again anyway with Jason F before I go shopping...

The drinks and snacks took up half a table last time, maybe allocate some space for them.

Hi,

If there's space - half a table - for something that almost, but not quite unlike something that runs some Acorn/Beeb code then I'd appreciate it. I'll be driving over from deepest darkest Devon on Friday, starting about mid-morning. Usually takes ~5 hours... Prob. staying until Monday morning before driving home.

Cheers,

-Gordon

At the moment I'm looking at the Spectrum prototype and the rare HH Tiger,
A heads up, the Spectrum one is likely to be a no, but not to worry they're dumping it anyway.

Yeah, I saw that video after I posted. Good to know they'll be doing it as I'd be a little apprehensive tampering with it.

We were planning on visiting the centre at the end of this month but I've persuaded my wife to let me postpone it until this weekend :D

If its ok, I'd like to pop along, probably on the Saturday. No table, just visiting.

Thanks

James, I have provisionally put you down as a reserve, because we already have a full allocation of no kitters. I’m sorry about this, but we have to limit the numbers as the room can only take so many retro enthusiasts...
If the room is not too crowded, you are welcome to come in and join the group. And in any event, you can chat in the public area and visit the rest of the museum.

Chris, I have added you as requested.

Important note:

There are now ONLY TWO places remaining. Currently these are both for full tables.

If you want to come along, to avoid disappointment, make up you mind quickly and post here before these last two places get filled.

Even if you don’t want a full table, please do state what your requirements are. We may split a full table to allow more flexibility.
