Elminster is moving to sunday (originally arriving saturday) and has kindly opted to free up his full table. This now means flynnjs has a full table for the weekend.
Elminster - you can have my half table on the sunday.

Top post updated.

Still some nokitter spaces left..

Away from table bookings...

Can I put out a request for assistance, two people max will do it I think.. to help put back the museum Beebs (and possibly Raspberry Pis plus monitors/keyboards) on Sunday? We'll start putting back no later than 4pm. This will be of great help as there will be a lot of kit to put back in the main hall after the Acorn World exhibition, which I'll be helping the museum staff with.

Thanks,
Jason

Moderators note: The archive request posts have been moved to a separate thread "Cambridge Sept 2019 archiving thread".

So can you please post anything related to archiving, scanning or similar in that thread rather than here, in this thread.

Thanks

I'll be bringing some surplus software to give away -- any ideas what thread I might use to see if anyone wants to bag specific items up front?

Please put me down also as a "no kitter" fri-sun

I'm not even sure I need any table space ... are "no kitters" not, essentially, "punters" :D

Well sort of**, we generally get access to the museum 'after hours',asically until either we or (museum) Jason wants to go home, which normal museum visitors don't.

**Sorry Phil, can't remember if you've been to one of the Cambridge ones before, so would already know this.....

Cheers.

Phill.

Yes, many times. In fact Jason's very kindly let me leave the "Yellow Peril" locked in on the forecourt

But yes I agree; this is a great differentiation between "punter" and "attendee" :)

Phil M - I've added you to the list in top post. No kitter just means you don't get a table (or indeed have any kit that needs to be put on a table :) ) .. but otherwise yup an Abug attendee..

OK. So this was eminently predictable. Jason, please can you put me down as a no-kitter and hold me in reserve for any table space if any becomes available.

Thanks

Excellent. Hotel booked. So I am definitely coming. Sharon will be there too if that's OK - she doesn't take up too much space.

OK. Though it is another person in the room in limited space. I've remembered that Elminster will be bringing his daughter on the Sunday too. I think I'll remove my spot for fri/sat and declare the room full at this point...(I should be able to squeeze a space for my Beeb in the main hall with Tricky).

A reminder re food in the evenings..:

Previously, we've had take-out delivered to the museum on a Friday night, and then gone out to a nearby pub-restaurant on the Saturday evening. As there's so many of us, I book in advance.

As we're having talks from the ex-Acorn chaps on Saturday 6.00-8.00 I'd like to swap this around: we head out to the pub on the Friday and have take-out after the talks on Saturday (please note of course no one is obliged ..)

The pub we've gone to previously is (link) http://www.the-geldart.co.uk .
Menu: http://www.the-geldart.co.uk/wp-content ... t-menu.pdf

Most people seem to like it and it's within walking distance of the museum.

I want to book the restaurant shortly. I'll book tables for Friday 20th @ 8.00PM. For those who are coming on the Friday (about 25 of us) - can you please PM me if you WOULD NOT like to come along. I plan to book it on Sunday 8th Sept evening.

Thanks,
Jason

On the subject of people’s real names, if you are wearing your name tag and someone takes a photo of you, and you don’t want the name to be readable in the published photo. Either take off or cover the name tag. Or please inform the person taking the photo that you would like the details on the name tag to be blurred out.

If someone takes a photo and puts it up here, and you want your name blurred out. Please PM me ASAP.

Note however that if the photo is being hosted externally to this site, then you will have to contact the member that took the photo to ask for them to edit the photo.

At the risk of contradicting myself creating more work for Roland (the surname thing came about at my suggestion I think) ..
would it be easier if we just didn't have surnames on the tags?

(In other contexts I go by 'Ed S', and perhaps an initial might help to disambiguate all the Jasons, Marks, Robs, and Daves, without giving away identity. Or it might remain ambiguous! Edit: or maybe first name is enough anyway, for conversational purposes. Surely it is.)

I think a “preferred” name is enough. By this, I mean the name that someone normally likes to be called by. As some people have preferred names that are different to their given name(s).

Are the name tags also going to be showing their StarDot avatar name? If yes, then I don’t think we need family / surnames or any initial of their family / surname.

Yes Stardot logo and avatar name will be there.
..so Roland, sorry but can you remove surnames from the tags please? I know you went to the effort of getting all the surnames etc but we hadn't considered the privacy aspect.

I removed the surnames of all the badges. However, for some people that doesn't make much sense because they have the surname in their nickname.

Hi,

Is the one “no-kit” space still available? If so, I would like to come along on the Saturday if possible.

I might bring a smallish item of rather special kit, if someone with a table would be willing to let me connect it to a Beeb

Thanks
