(from viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7190&p=77976#p77910 ) Unfortunately I am unable to actually make this work... I have tried BeebEm and B-em, and in both cases I cannot get past the main menu on the startup disc. It says "Please insert the SOLAR disc and press a key." but never appears to actually try loading the disc.
When it prompts you to insert the SOLAR disc, you have to use the File or Disc menu in the emulator to load the disc-image "ZILLION SOLAR.SSD" into drive zero of the emulator, and then you can press a key to continue.

Yeah, it sounds straightforward and that's what I've been doing... specifically, in B-em:

Disc -> Autoboot Disc :0/2 -> pick ZILLION STARTUP.SSD
Start a new game -> "Please insert the Solar disc"
Disc -> Load disc :0/2 -> pick ZILLION SOLAR.SSD -> press something -> nothing happens

Basically the same flow in BeebEm, and same result: I get stuck on the start/continue menu, looking at the message prompting me to press a key. It's as though the key press is just not registering or something. Lurkio, if you've gotten it working, what emulator did you use?

I presume you're on Windows? It's possible you've run into the 8271 emulation bug in BeebEm. I'm using a version of Mac BeebEm that's had the bug fixed.

If you're on Windows, can you try the latest beta version of Windows BeebEm, please?:

That's certainly what is sounds like! Is this with every DFS or just Acorn 0.9? I'm not sure if Watford DFS 1.30 exhibits the same issue...

I think the bug affects Acorn DFS 1.2 (DNFS) as well.

If I remember rightly, you mentioned the Watford DFS some time ago, when we were discussing a similar issue with another set of game discs, and I believe I tried using the Watford DFS instead of my usual Acorn one, and I found that the Watford DFS *did* correctly detect a change of disc-image in drive zero, even in the buggy version of BeebEm. (I think.)

But, in any case, the latest beta of Windows BeebEm should fix the 8271 bug so that any DFS should behave correctly:
