Spot the Polluters
Scientific Eye Software / Yorkshire Television / GSN Software Limited

This involves choosing locations to measure air pollution levels with the aim of identifying polluting sites. It is then possible to explore measures to reduce these emissions.

Introducing Geography
BBC Soft

This package consists of four programs on three discs. The programs are all simulations based around the theme of exploring the environment.
  • Summit - manage an expedition climbing the south-west face of Mount Everest
  • Nomad - control the seasonal migration of a Fulani nomad herding cattle in the Sahel
  • Flight - take the role of an aircraft navigator flying across the world
  • River - your plane has crashed in a remote mountain region, use contour lines to find a river and then follow it to the sea
All require disc write access.

@Flaxcottage - are you planning to upload the Brilliant Computing and other Special Needs educational stuff too?
Yes it is on my list.

I do take requests but I cannot guarantee I'll honour them in a reasonable time frame. :?
:) Good man. Fair enough.
Quite a few special needs programs have been uploaded now. :D

Fantastic to see, thanks for letting me know. I would say for http://www.flaxcottage.com/educational/default.asp - that Brilliant Computing were specialists in providing hardware and software for Special Needs use, or something like that. They did all sorts, and touch-screen was just one string to their bow.

Here's The Grammar Tree: Nouns & Adjectives for the BBC Micro, by Sulis Software. This came on two unprotected cassette tapes, both of which easily transferred to disc-image via a DataCentre. I added the menu program.

Here's Music Reader II (1983) for the BBC Micro, by Geedoh Educational Software. An aid to learning musical notation.

Another easy tape-to-disc transfer via DataCentre. The only wrinkle was that the main game program had to be "downloaded" to &E00 on a Model B.

This is a request for help, really. [-o< [-o<

I have spent the day archiving a comprehensive statistics package called INSTAT, produced by the Statistics Department at Reading University. The package included a ROM, a teaching guide and a double-sided 80T disk, all of which have been archived on the www.flaxcottage.com website.

From reading the documentation it appears that there was an Introductory Guide to Instat and also a Programming Guide.

Does anyone here have copies of these guides that they could scan and send me for the archive or know of where they may already be stored?

Thanks in anticipation.

I remember using this package at University (on Dos/Win3.1) instead of the beeb.
It may be worth approaching one of the authors?

No worries, it was only as I was having a little reminisce of the old Uni computer labs after you posted about INSTAT.

Thanks, Col., I'll get those uploaded tomorrow. =D>

They are both different from the ASK versions I have - more like the Acornsoft ones.

Hi John,

Are you interested in getting hold of this sort of stuff too?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oghsdc9gzdd1 ... dv3za?dl=0

I've a few bits and bobs like that. If you'd be up for scanning them and sharing them, I'll happily post them over to you, as you seem the best home for this stuff.
