A long time since I posted a title here. :?

Fresh from the ABUG meet in Manchester is the archived Map Skills 1 & 2 package.
Package.jpg
Package.jpg
I already had most of these titles in a bootleg compilation I found (it was protected and a real pain to unravel). However, these are the real deal. :D
They were unprotected too.

The observant among you will notice that they are the Econet Level 1 versions. BITD I had a Level 1 Econet in my computer room when I taught using BBCs. Level 1 was quite cute, easy to manage in a classroom and easy to back up - I loved it.

Included with this offering in the fifth zip file is a disc image of the complete Level 1 fileserver and the Map Skills titles set up for use on a network for those of you with networks. This has been tested and works. All that is needed is a BBC or Master with a floppy disc drive connected to the Econet and another BBC or Master connected to load the software.

Another title from the ABUG bundle. This one is from the Shell Centre at Nottingham University - Maths 1 to 5 - in the Teaching with a Micro Series.

Each title is complete with disc image and documentation. The manuals are in pdf format. This way they take up much less space than the jpg scans I have previously used.

A couple more MIA titles from the ABUG software bundle ...

Plotting Graphs and Linear Programming.

Simple and nicely executed.

From now on things get tricky as all the other titles were protected. Oh, joy!!

John Wiley Software Projectile Motion

This title was one of the MIA titles in the bundle of software Mekon passed on to me at the Manchester ABUG meet in January. It was a pretty substantial title boasting a linen-covered slip case over an A5 ring binder. Inside were a User Manual and a set of student cards to go with the programs.

Unusually this package included backup discs of the titles. There were four discs in all, each 40T single sided.

The discs were quite heavily protected against copying until the method of protection was discovered. Thereafter copying the software for archiving was quite easy. :D

This title seems to be A-Level in standard and as such is quite a rarity in the archive; we have very few A-Level standard programs.

Unit1.jpg
There are 13 titles in this series and I have numbers 2 and 7. If anyone in StarDot-land has others I should appreciate the opportunity to archive them. [-o<

The second John Wiley Software title from the ABUG Manchester batch.

Vectors

This is very similar to their first title above.

There was one interesting part in the programming and that was one of the programs *LOADed a set of character definitions and then *LOADed another set immediately afterwards. The second set, however, loaded at &C88 and redefined characters 241 to 255 leaving character 224 to 240 unchanged.

Edit:

The attachment now includes the disc images.

I've been busy archiving today. :D

Attached are two compilations of software, not all of it commercial. Some of these amateur titles are very good and I remember using them on my network BITD.

There are even some games that appear to be missing from the bbcmicro.co.uk site!!

Found some more MIA titles amongst some home grown compilations. All of these titles are by what I call amateur programmers. As far as I know they were never commercial. Some seem to have been on discs supplied by Derbyshire and Leicestershire LEAs. The programmers' names in some cases correspond to people known to be associated with the Derbyshire Educational Software Centre (DESC).

The SSDs are attached below.

Did this ever surface? It’s by Griffin Software - came in a bumper package complete with a book, which I must still have somewhere. For some reason the tape’s strayed in among a load of music cassettes I have ...

^ that will be a CSW only, as the loaders are rather mental, all of them dont work under BeebEm only bEm beta CSW /WAV tape ldr , Done two so far.

They sometimes have a 'back door' ie OLD RUN hiding somewhere OR a do you want to finish question, which if you press Break at right time can see basic prog, before it wipes all ram...

IF ivor finds it in his music collection !

Will have a dig. I think it was one I put to one side to have a go at ripping, before realising I don’t have a scooby what I’m doing. I’ve clearly put the packaging away with a load of other software, not realising it was separated from the tape itself. I seem to remember the screenshots on the back of this looked really nice - some very cutesy sprites.

I’ve got a couple of boxes in the loft which I’ll go through and see if there’s anything else randomly kicking about. The library sale this came from didn’t half turn up some random stuff.

Col - you up for receiving another parcel if/when I get my act together on the digging out front?

Am getting tied in knots with the archive. Thought more Acornsoft/Ivan Berg titles were in there, but I’m struggling to find them (admittedly I’ve been in the loft for two hours and am slightly out of it). In front of me are:
Revise GCE/CSE English
Mathematics 1
Mathematics 2
Biology
Crime & Detection Quiz
Also Acornsoft Graphics Picture Maker
And Linkword Italian

Separately - I see an image for COIC’s Supermarket now exists, but do we have all the documentation?

Meanwhile, I’ve found the packaging for Cup and Bowl.

Couple of other rarities - Red Shift’s Apocalypse (minus booklet), and Dee-Kay’s Cornish Riviera, (with booklet).

Those Ivan Berg titles all appear in John's spreadsheet. But please feel free to image and upload them here if you can. It'll save John from doing it all himself!
See links in quote.
ivor_the_injun wrote:I see an image for COIC’s Supermarket now exists
Where? Can you link to it, please? Or are you referring to the entry in John's spreadsheet?
ivor_the_injun wrote:but do we have all the documentation?
John's spreadsheet says no, so scans would be great..!
ivor_the_injun wrote:I’ve found the packaging for Cup and Bowl.
Great! Are you able to scan it?
ivor_the_injun wrote:Red Shift’s Apocalypse (minus booklet), and Dee-Kay’s Cornish Riviera, (with booklet).
See links. A scan of the Cornish Riviera booklet would be good.

Dunno who John is I’m afraid.

Supermarket is here:

I've found the Brilliant computing master disks that I have and I know that Barrie was after at least one title I think I may have.

Meanwhile, these caught my eye. There may be the odd PC disk in here (World Class Leaderboard probably proves that), but anything leaping out as being of specific interest?

not seen Quickcalc for a while  , sure thats for a 286PC
You could send those on too, since they are already copied, it will be easy to flick through UPURS if needed imaged
before skipped....

"Cornish Riviera - (C) Dee-Kay Systems 1984", the disc for that just turned up being a copy, but no manual
so I could scan that too (or if you wish), also no tape image either about, and only lent out libray 4 times, so should work :-s

I’m basically useless for copying and scanning purposes, as my tape deck and disk drive are buried in the left, and my scanner refuses to work with Windows 10.

Will send all these on, hopefully Fri or Sat this week.
