One of the great values of BBC BASIC on any platform is that when you absolutely, positively need to do some data processing right now, this instant, it's very easy to get something up and running in BBC BASIC.
More than a decade ago I wrote some data processing tools for the electoral database system used back then, very similar to tools I've written for Census data processing.
I've recently being throwing stuff together for data processing with the current register database which I've chucked here. They show ways you can process bulk text and CSV data, some of it with simple brute force which is often good enough for one-off tasks.
