CPC Pinball game

Post by simonm » Sun Oct 30, 2016 2:26 am

I happened across this new release for Amstrad CPC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVv-oBN ... e=youtu.be

It's a rather impressive vertical scrolling 'proper' arcade pinball type game. Had me idly wondering if the fancy vertical scroll technique in Firetrack could be used on the Beeb for a game such as this...

Wow - that's excellent. Makes really good use of the CPC palette and shows what the machine is capable of.

I guess that this is using the 6845 vertical rupture technique so there's no reason it couldn't be done on a Beeb.

128k minimum CPC, so might need to shrink the playfield a little.

I guess you could use something like two 10K mode 5 screens on the Beeb and two 20K mode 2 screens on the Master. Or maybe two 8/16K screens?

Of course, I forgot the CPC had a 6845 also.
Given we're spoiled with Emulators these days, I tend to think it's fair enough when new demos or games only work on the expanded models, such as the Master 128.

I think it looks amazing. Pinball Dreams was one of the best games on the Amiga so I'm very excited this has finally made it to the CPC (and c64).
