HCCS IDE A3 (ROMv5)

Post by IanJeffray » Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:15 pm

I'm having trouble getting an HCCS IDE A3 card [User port and internal drive socket only] to recognise any drive. The card has a 2.5 Quantum "Go Drive" bolted to it, but that's obviously died so I've been trying various CF and SD adaptors without any joy -- IDEFS doesn't recognise the drive as formatted with ADFS or Wizzo in other machines, and the HCCS IDEmgr software (1.00) just says "No IDE devices found".

Is anyone successfully using one of thse podules with 'modern' drive solutions? If so, what sort of drive?
And, is there any newer version of IDEmgr than 1.00 ?

TIA

I've got an IDE/A3000 (in an A3000 no less!) and a newer version of IDEMgr. The latter was on Andy Armstrong's website, and Chris Whytehead mirrored it:

I've got the "Version 5" ROM in mine, and it seems very picky with Compactflash cards.

That's the IDEmgr I picked up. Good to hear it works to some degree - "picky" is obviously dead right. I'll try even more types of card! This is also going in the A3000 I've recently been working on.

You could try adding pull-up resistors to the 16-bit data bus on the ide side.
Made a lot of stuff work for me - viewtopic.php?p=200064#p200064
4K7 on D0-D15.

Wow that's very interesting. I'd never heard of that kind of thing before. I'll examine the podule and perhaps give it a shot! Thanks.
