Usb/bluetooth keyboard on RiscPC

Post by stevebubs » Wed Dec 11, 2019 6:18 pm

Looking to tidy up my office install over the Xmas period.

Anything out there that will convert the Ps2 keyboard interface on the RISCPC so I can either connect a Bluetooth keyboard or plug in a Logtech Unifying adapter?

Only thing I can find is a Startech PS22USB adapter that's not available any more.

Cheers

Steve

PS Already have a SmallyMouse :)

Suspect it'll require more than a reprogram, plus hoping for something off the shelf..

Years ago I bought an PS2 keyboard adapter from CJE Micro's. That was for an A5000 - I thought later RISC OS machines took PS2 keyboards directly.

Edit: re-read the original post, the temporal directionality in the sentence structure is backwards, which threw me off.

You want to convert a bluetooth keyboard *to* a PS/2 input. As the RISCPC takes a standard PS2 keyboard, that's likely to be a standard PC-world part.

Hmmm. I've done ten minutes of searching, and there's loads of stuff to allow you to convert a PS2 keyboard to bluetooth, but nothing to convert a bluetooth keyboard to PS2.

Why do you want to use a bluetooth keyboard? There's literally millions of PS2 keyboards to chose from.

Because I have a wireless keyboard on my desk that can connect to 3 different devices at the press of a button just like my MXMaster mouse. It works with unifying receivers and Bluetooth devices.

As the RiscPC is permanently setup under my dayjob desk, having the wired keyboard and mouse is clutter.

Don't care whether the PS/2 port on the RiscPC is converted to Bluetooth or USB to be honest - I can easily plug a unifying receiver into a USB port to provide the Keyboard USB HID interface.
