Archimedes A3000 to AKF30, possible ?

Post by john_A3000 » Tue Jun 12, 2018 8:05 pm

Hi all,
I've been really enjoying my A3000 on my Philips CM883 monitor, using a scart to 9-pin cable. Thing is, I have a NoS Boxed Acorn AKF30 I got back in the late 90s. It's never been used since it came without a video cable.
So, I'm wondering if it's possible to hook my A3000 upto the AKF30 ?
These, I believe, are the pinouts for the monitor, and the A3000.

2 - Green
3 - Red
4 - Ground

I have a Philips CM8833 MkII cable for the A3000, but it's 9-pin male to 9-pin male. The AKF30 is also 9-pin male, so I was thinking of chopping the end off and soldering on a 9-pin female connector using the pinouts above.
Would this work ? And would games still work ?
Or, would you either stick with the CM8833 ? I have a 8833 MkII, so I could make use of the cable I already have. Trouble is, my Amiga 1200 is using that same 9-pin port.

Thanks for any help, or suggestions. :)

John.

CJE sell a 9-pin to 9-pin cable, though it is £15:

Thanks for the link.
I tried CJE, a bit earlier, but couldn't find anything. So, thanks. :)

My A3000 connects to my AKF30 monitor through a 9-pin to 15-pin VGA adapter. Then an old, 90s retro VGA cable completes the setup. Modern VGA cables will not work.

I was thinking of making a 9-pin female to female adapter - solder the pins to match the pinouts of the AKF30, then just plug it onto the end of my current cable and see if it works. The cable was made for a Philips CM8833 MkII which has the RGB on different pins.
