Hello from The Netherlands
Hello from The Netherlands
Hi All,
My post title says 'the Netherlands' but I'm actually a Brit abroad and still have a UK address for eBay deliveries and somewhere to keep my family and old computer equipment.
I used BBC's at school and got an Electron off a work colleague in the late 80's but didn't do much with it at the time due to, lets say, a busy period of my life.
Now I have the time and money to do all the things I didn't do BITD.
I want to expand my Electron and eventually buy a BBC-B.
I picked up a Plus 1 last week and now I'm looking for a PRES AP4 or a Slogger Pegasus. Anyone got a spare one to sell me?
Right, I'm off to read the forums.

I know right (my kids say that phrase) I can't wait to unite my Electron with this Plus 1 I just bought. Trouble is, they are in different countries right now.CMcDougall wrote:welcome Neil![]()
now you have a Plus1, it can come to life!!
Roll on Christmas.
That reminds me, I need to place a want-ad.

Welcome Neil!
That Electron should be a lot of fun. Compared to the Timex 1000 you bought off me a few months ago - the keyboard is a lot better!
Btw - there is a Plus 3 for sale on Marktplaats, it also comes with a spare Plus 1 and Electron! Not too far from where you are in the Netherlands if I remember correctly.
Enjoy the stardot forums!

Re: Hello from The Netherlands
Hi Paul,
I am avoiding the Plus 3 as it is ADFS rather than DFS, but maybe I should get one for the collection anyway.
My first aim is to get back up to the level of competency I was at 30 years ago then progress from there.
I am checking Marktplaats daily but don't want to buy things I already have for the sake of one item. That one on Marktplaats looks discoloured, someone needs to mix up a batch of Retr0brite!
I must admit, the Acorn keyboards are lovely to use. I love those little Timex things for different reasons and I have several of them.
Nice to hear from you though, you didn't let on that you were into Acorns when I visited.

Welcome!
I was amused by your avatar image. I wonder if anyone else has noticed the resemblance of the Android logo to Metal Mickey.

Neil, firstly . . . Welcome to the forum
Next . . . go for the Plus 3 -> then you can fit Pill's (prime) ROM/RAM board, into the Plus 3, which will give you ADFS E00 AND DFS E00 <- So, no loss of memory. I also have ARAs (Cartridge boards that take 2 EPROMs), ABRs (Battery backed RAM), ATIs Tube interfaces for the Electron (so then you can add a 2nd processor
) - with more on the way
Elks are just soon versatile

Cheers.

Re: Hello from The Netherlands
Hmmm, I am intrigued.
Soldering is no problem for me, I just need to widen my search for a disk system to include the Plus 3.
Anyone got a nice example of a Plus 3 for sale?
Right, I need to change my want-ad.
How much are these RAM/ROM boards?

Thanks Stuart,
I had to pass the real person test before the admin would activate my account.
Thanks for the advice the other day.

Re: Hello from The Netherlands
Schematic is coming-on fine - I'll be using a PLD for the Page &FCxx decoding to give the flexibility required e.g. If I miss a location, in Page &FC, it can always be reprogrammed to add it at a later date. Apart from that . . . It may be complete . . . Just to lay out the PCB then and test.aerworuld wrote:Any news on the AP5's Mr. H?
