Hello from the Chew Valley

Post by AngusH » Thu Apr 02, 2020 2:46 pm

I'm Angus. I got my BBC B back in 1983/4 and had an amazing amount of fun. Based in Exeter, there was a little hive of activity down there. My friends Ian & Tim wrote BMX on the Moon; Tim went on to write Repton 1 & 2; Ian, myself and our friend Marcus wrote Uridium. A boy in my year at school, Gil, wrote the speccy versions of Repton, and I remember bumping into one of the guys behind Armalyte on the C64 in the local computer shop, who lived in the city somewhere. A great period to be coding in, the possibilities were endless...

What a fabulous machine the Beeb was. I got mine out of the loft the other day to show the guys at work; after ten minutes one of the capacitors promptly blew up!! Oh well!

Very pleased to have re-discovered this forum & community ...

Hi and welcome, great to have another subject matter expert here on this great little forum.

It’s easy and straightforward to replace the capacitors in the power supply, do a search or ask for help if you need it.

I lived in Teignmouth in the early eighties before moving to Kingsteignton and often used to go over to Gil's to play beeb or occasionally speccy games and program. He and I wrote Jeltron. He wrote Repton 1 and 2, although they weren't released until about a year afterwards. (Iirc). You can find some more if my games here.
