Just wanted to say hello.

Given the current climate and the fact I have a lot more time on my hands, I'm looking to rekindle my passion for the BBC Micro. Used them at school in the '80s and '90s and was the first computer I ever used, since then I'm had a crazy passion for computers and have worked in the industry since leaving school. I've been working for the last 10 years as an iOS software engineer and am a bit of an Apple fan too.

I own a BBC Model B which is currently in my under bed storage, so it's about time I got it out and working Just need to find a decent screen setup because I don't think my 50" Samsung is going to cut it.

So on very basic inspection of BeebEm Mac it's built against the Carbon SDK which was removed from macOS Catalina 10.15. So it needs the GUI porting to AppKit which should doable. Might be worth wrapping the C code into SPM module and then writing the GUI application using Swift so that it will keep going for longer to come.

Actually, non whatever . . . It's currently dormant - a few folk have 'looked' at the issue and know what to do, however, I believe it's the integration with Apple that's the main issue (the signing?). So anything you can do will firstly be appreciated and secondly be VERY appreciated

Yeah, the Apple part of the application is built using very very old APIs which are no longer supported, in-fact they no longer exist. It's going to be tricky but not impossible to update it. But going to need some way of getting a very old version of MacOS running in a virtual machine and then very old version of the development tools.

I'm going to have a go though, I like a challenge and I like to learn new things.

Oh, it might just do the job...

My Beeb used it's RGB output for the first time in 38 years today - had to knock out the cover and masking tape, now it's RGB -> SCART and looking amazing!
