Hi, from Katikati New Zealand!

Post by Bloodnok » Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:09 am

Hi all, Charlie Ingley checking in. Some of you will know me from the Sinclair groups as I’ve designed a few bits and pieces for Sinclair machines over the past few years (have a look at https://vdrivezx.com). Never owned (too expensive!) anything Acorn related until recently weakened and acquired an Electron. Have a fairly random collection of retro gear including the usual Sinclair ZX range, QL, Z88, Amstrad CPCs and a working ComputerPhone(NZ One per Desk). Mainly interested in understanding the inner workings but have been known to play the odd game just to remind myself I was never any good :)

Welcome to the Acorn fraternity and the madhouse called stardot. Great wee group with vast knowledge I am sure you’ll enjoy your stay

Recommend a plus 1 for elk as it gives you access to some nice extra hardware like SD cartridge, mega games cartridge, disk interfaces, ap5 (which has tube, user port etc on it so allows access to external 2nd processors inc Raspberry Pi, and other add ons).

Also have a look at the ultimate electron upgrade thread on here about a replacement ultra ULA which will give access to all sorts of things like bbc modes, mode 7 etc. Early days at moment but seems standard elk functions are working and a few extra goodies.

John
