It's been a while : a re-introduction

Post by sorvad »

Some of you will remember me as some did in a recent thread, many will not know me but I used to be a big contributor a long time ago for some years and was one of the original moderators. But due to redundancy and finding I needed to start a brand new career from scratch (with all the work that entailed and at a more mature age!) and a new child I found that I couldn't keep up the large increase in posts here (and the amount of users rocketed compared to the first few years of the boards existence) and my participation waned to around a post a year!

Another thing keeping me a bit busy for the last year or so is the launch of my you tube channel and website. Nothing Beeb related I'm afraid (at least not so far), basically programming and micro-controllers with some retro games thrown in (I've done a space invaders and half decent Frogger clone on a MCU). If you feel you want to have a look at some low budget low quality you tube videos then here's the link (subscribe if you have the deluded thought that the videos might improve!)

https://www.youtube.com/xtronical

and if you want the website it's www.xtronical.com

Hopefully I can make more contributions from now on (a massive increase compared to the last five years!), perhaps even 1 post a week!

It all seems very different here, so many usernames I don't recognise and so many posts per day, it feels like a busy city centre compared to the village green of the past :) I think I'll have to filter my time to just reading posts where the subject looks interesting to me, in the past I read everything! Something I don't think I could keep up with today :(

Yes, when I've dipped occasionally in, I've looked at your work as it was very very impressive. Great stuff :)

Life has a way of throwing curve-balls like that, I know only too well. the good thing is you're still here and still have a love for it all.

Welcome back! :D

Just skip the topics that don't take your immediate fancy and you'll be OK. :)

It was mentioned in a post a long time ago in a forum far far away that if you read my forum name backwards the avatar makes sense

Welcome back. Going through that redundancy lark myself at the moment, oddly having retro computing on CV doesn’t help :)

<OT>It didn't help on my CV, but I spent about an hour during my interview talking 6502 and still got the job, also took a pile of 6502 print out to my previous job interview for a C games developer in 2000, seemed to help too. I guess I hit the 0.001% where it helped.
I did see a games job in america where they wanted 6502 for NES games, but that is the only one this millennium. </OT>
