Hello from a novice veteran

Post by davidraven » Fri Aug 17, 2018 5:15 pm

Hi everyone

New to the group but not the Archimedes though I am about to be a beginner all over again. :D

After getting to grips with the BBC B in school, the ZX Spectrum and C64 in the mid-1980s and learning a thing or two about music and graphics I got a job after leaving school working for a small studio producing multimedia using the Amiga and Atari ST. Then the Archimedes came along and my company switched focus to pushing multimedia (and the machine in general) into schools and research departments at companies like Lever Brothers. I wanted to get get into the games industry so looked for freelance opportunities. Between the late 1980s and the early 1990s I worked my way from a freelancer to in-house musician/2D artist/tea boy (after moving to London) then software development manager/senior tea boy at Cambridge International Software which restyled as CIS a year or so before the end. Although we had irons in the fire on the Amiga, Megadrive and NES the focus was on the Archmides and It was an exciting time for the platform and everyone involved in the industry at the time. Sadly, despite doing really well at the time the company was closed down and I moved away from the platform but managed to keep hold of my A3010 (still working) and a box full of disks, which I found while clearing out the attic this week.

Looking forward to getting involved in the community and re-discovering the magic.

Regards

David

Welcome, I'm sure you know more about the Archie than me :)
I'm not sure if I have ever touched one, even after going to several riscos events.
I do remember a helicopter flying up and down a street with a search light, or did I imagine that?
