Just saying Hi

Post by dhoggan » Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:44 am

Hi All,

Just thought I'd say hello. Recently bought a Model B as I had one as a kid and had fond memories of it. Was genuinely surprised that is is as fun as I remember from all those years ago! I haven't really got much yet - trying to find a Microvitec Cub monitor to complete the nostalgia but they seem very rare. But, I have added a MMC card interface and - whilst a bit of a cheat - it does make games more fun. Working with some fairly powerful systems in my day job - it very relaxing to go back to 8-bit in the evening.

I'll probably ask some silly questions, so please be gentle :-)

Thanks,

Dave

Welcome! :D

And another Dave, too! Are things getting confusing for non-Daves yet? ;)

Welcome.
If you had a beeb at home, an RGB to SCART cable and portable CRT from the charity shop do quite well, but not if it was at school I guess.
Mode Daves = more chance of guessing someones name as I can never remember them!
If you haven't already found it, bbcmicro.co.uk has nearly everything and working versions of a few games that don't work in the default MMC install.
Do you solder? program? play games?

Maybe the solution is (in my best Red Dwarf voice):

Holly: Everybody's Dave, Dave.
BBC Model B 32k issue 7, Sidewise ROM board with 16K RAM
Archimedes 420/1 upgraded to 4MB RAM (mid- restoration)
Acorn System 1 home-made replica
