Greetings.

Post by unixtown2002 » Sun Mar 11, 2018 8:47 pm

Greetings,

I have after some 25 years recently re-acquired a BBC Master 128k. There are some challenges in setting the unit up. For one thing being based in Florida requires that I run the BBC through a USA->UK power transformer the size and weight of a breeze block. The unit has been cleverly modified with an s-video output.

I miss my old BBC Master, which I gave away back in the early 90's along with ROMS, Elite and books that are now apparently collectors items !

These days I develop in an application language called "BizTalk" and C#. BizTalk is not unlike programming with Visio, its a million miles away from LDA #9 , RTS :-)

I realize one can not turn back the clock, but there is something about the BBC Series of machines and the accompanying software library that demands to be re-visited.

I really hope that I have many more years of fun with my BBC, time flies and its day was over way too fast.

All The Best

Stephen

Welcome to the Forum, Stephen . . . Enjoy . . .

By the way: You can 're-link' your Master's Power Supply to run directly from 110V. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to give you a link to the details.

Thank you for welcoming me.

I really missed my BBC machine, orignally I had a master, ROMS, software including my own EPROM that I authored and gave to a relative.

I still hold out hope that said relative stored the machine in an attic, but have yet to ever receive a response from them !

I would willingly pay the shipping costs to have all my previous Acorn items sent on to me.

I think it s a testament to the Acorn series that they are still expandable after all these years, like miniaturizing 2nd processors etc..

My biggest enemy is time to re-acquaint and try out some of the new options.
