Hi from foxtrotter

Post by Foxtrotter » Tue Feb 13, 2018 4:43 pm

Back in the 1980's I had ordered a Sinclair Spectrum but got fed up off waiting for delivery, so cancelled it and bought my first computer, a Video Genie. After learning Basic programming, I upgraded to a BBC Micro B, and later an Archimedes.

I spent quite a lot of my spare time writing for 'The Micro User' and 'Electron User', programmes, articles and software reviews, under my own name Geoff Turner. After a while, the editor Mike Bibby asked me to write a series of articles for the newly launched 'Computing With The Amstrad' The Database publications offices weren't too far away from my home and I often popped in to chat with the guys and discuss future articles. I was surprised at just how small an organisation it was, with just a small number of writers often writing under pen names.

Sadly I disposed of my Beeb micro and Archimedes many years ago but reading some of the posts on here brings back many memories.

Geoff

Welcome! :D

We'd love to hear any stories you have about writing for the magazines.

Welcome. :D

Why do I keep collecting Acorn gear? I'm going to need a considerably bigger man-cave. :?

Geoff - I remember your name! Superb to hear from you. I was, and still am, a student of David Braben and Ian Bell and I learnt 6502 assembly language from the truly one-of-a-kind Bruce Smith!
